The Mission of the board members is to work towards the establishment and expansion of Montessori in Denmark, using Montessori pedagogy, philosophy and AMI Montessori trained staff.

Please contact us if you would like to join our mission.

  • Sandra Dinny Rebild

Sandra Dinny Rebild is the chairperson of the Danish Montessori Society.
She received her AMI 3–6 diploma in 1988 while working in a small Danish Montessori preschool. In 1990, she founded an international Montessori preschool, and in 1999 she participated in the first Educateurs sans Frontières gathering in Italy.

Sandra has worked with refugee children and families at the Danish Red Cross centre in Copenhagen and has continually contributed to promoting Montessori in Denmark. She has taught several national Montessori 3–6 courses and frequently gives talks on the life and work of Maria Montessori.

  • Isabel (Valentine) Lisack

Isabel is the owner and director of Montessori International Preschool, located in Valby. She started the preschool in 2011. She was also the owner and director of Montessori International Preschool Frederiksberg, which opened in 2014 and was sold in 2025.

Isabel moved to Copenhagen in 2008 with her family. Both her children, Zachary (born in 2004) and Elodie (born in 2007) attended Montessori preschools when they were little. This is how her Montessori journey started, as a parent who witnessed how her children cultivated their love of learning by being in a Montessori environment. And this inspired her to open preschools to share this amazing educational philosophy with other parents. She has been a board member of the Danish Montessori Society since 2012 and has organized different Montessori events and conferences in Denmark.

  • Marianne Rasmussen

Marianne and her husband took over the Montessori School in Birkerød in 1992. She completed her Montessori training with Dinny, receiving a thorough and inspiring introduction to Montessori pedagogy.

She spent 28 wonderful years leading the school with Montessori at its centre. The institution has since transitioned to a Rudolf Steiner setting, where Marianne continues to work. Her heart, however, still burns brightly for Montessori.

  • Maria Simone Fønsskov

Maria is a Danish Montessori mom of two girls. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business, Chinese Language, and Culture from Copenhagen Business School, but is now homeschooling her daughters using the Montessori method.

Maria discovered Montessori while pregnant with her first child and quickly fell in love with the pedagogy. Because she found limited Montessori resources in Denmark, she hopes to raise awareness and help grow the Montessori community across the country. On her Instagram account, “Montessori_danmark”, she shares insights from their Montessori homeschool as well as tips on how to incorporate Montessori principles into everyday family life.

  • Lisa Rasmussen

Lisa is a Canadian Montessori teacher specializing in the 3–6 age group. She began her career in 1995 after graduating from the Foundation for Montessori Education in Toronto. After teaching in Toronto, she lived briefly in Glendale, California, before moving to Denmark in 1997.

She spent 18 years at the Little Montessori School in Lyngby and has been teaching in Ørestad since 2015. Since settling in Denmark, Lisa has been involved in the Danish Montessori Society and has served on the board since 2012. She lives in Allerød with her Danish husband.

Her years with children have taught her invaluable lessons—far more than they could ever learn from her—and keep her heart forever young.
